About Jordan Stark
Speech-Language Pathologist
Jordan Stark, M.S., CCC-SLP
Welcome! I am honored you’ve decided to look into Joyful Sounds Therapy for your child’s speech and language needs. A little about me: My passion for speech-language pathology began back when I was a senior in high school after shadowing an SLP in a clinical setting. The session consisted of laughter, engagement, and accomplishment for the child. It seemed so rewarding for the clinician, and I immediately knew this was what I wanted to do. I went to college and never changed majors. I obtained my Master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders eight years later.
Speech-language pathology is all about communication. The goal is to help your child to be able to effectively communicate (whether that be through better speech intelligibility, using sign language/pictures/gestures, building sentence structure, increasing vocabulary, etc) and to understand and comprehend the language they hear or read (such as being able to follow directions, reading comprehension, being able to answer questions, understanding social cues, etc). Our goal is to better help your child get his/her wants and needs across and have a successful future.
I came up with the name Joyful Sounds as I watched and listened to my two young boys playing on the trampoline together. I wanted the perfect name that truly summarizes what my business stands for. Those little giggles gave me nothing but joy, and I immediately knew. Every parent should be able to hear the joyful sound of their children making progress in their speech and communication. A joyful sound can be a babble, a hum, a more meaningful word structure, or a single speech sound; it can be whatever progress looks like for them. I pray for my clients daily. I pray for the Lord to give them those joyful sounds so they can then “make a joyful noise to the Lord” (Psalm 100:1) and give Him all the glory.
